For Supernaculum, Catherine Clover invited you to step into the world of pigeons. Common pigeons have mixed reputations today, even though their ability to adapt and thrive in the urban world indicates their intelligence, strength and tenacity. Pigeons frequently take up residence in buildings abandoned by humans, and her performance suggested that the pigeons had already taken over residence, nesting and roosting in the hotel.
Catherine Clover’s multidisciplinary practice addresses communication through voice, language and the interplay between hearing/listening, seeing/reading. Using field recording, digital imaging and the spoken/written word she explores an expanded approach to language within and across species through a framework of everyday experience. The artworks are social in nature and frequently involve collaboration and participation with other artists and with audiences.
