David Murray composed and Lily Tait performed a new work for Supernaculum musically capturing the differing acoustic properties of the hotel’s rooms. The work had varying layers of ‘memory’ within its components; David’s newly composed score, tape recordings of ambient and environment sounds from the hotel, Lily’s violin performance alongside the tape recordings, and lastly, a recording of the performance. Pre, present and post memory was encompassed in the work reflecting on the disappearing space and to create a continuation of the space in tape and score.

David is self taught in composition. His practice to date encompasses notated and tape music. He has an ongoing interest in notating the complexities of the polytemporal-experiential and sensory nature of imagination, memory, and experience.
Lily Tait contributes diversely across a wide range of exploratory music practises as a composer and a violinist. Lily performs with Artist Film Workshop, Inland Concert Series, La Mama Musica and Make It Up Club and with No Wave country music band, Ostraaly.
