Hamish’s work ‘Birthing Pool’ was a video installation consisting of hand-drawn ink animations on paper. Tucked in a dank little spot in the hotel the animation is a series of disparate scenes such as three shrouded figures moving towards the viewer, a pair of eyes appearing at a slot which then drip black matter through, a hand being crushed by rotating machine parts and a figure tumbling down a set of stairs. Hamish uses Lousy Ink, a 100% recycled ink sourced from upcycled inkjet printer cartridges.
Born and raised in regional New South Wales, Hamish Storrie is now based in Melbourne and works as a video artist, animator and producer of low-brow artefacts. His work explores areas of abjectivity, eroticism, the body in space and D.I.Y culture.
