After Breakfast is an arrangement of discarded eggshells, orange peels and coffee grounds. A homage to the many continental breakfasts served and eaten at Brooklyn Arts Hotel. Using organic waste from local businesses and the hotel itself, Kate and Esther Cullity created an installation using only materials they were able to access in the few days prior to the exhibition.
Kate Cullity is an Australian landscape architect and founding director of TCL (Taylor Cullity Lethlean), a landscape architecture and urban design practice. Her notable projects include IGA International Garden Festival (Berlin), Victoria Square (Adelaide) and Uluru Kata Tjuta Aboriginal Cultural Centre.
Esther Cullity and her family would often spend hours together in the garden, collecting flowers and learning about plants. Her arrangements are a balanced, playful mix of seasonal botanicals and florals. She has a real soft spot for Australian natives and foraged treasures from the local area.
