Mietta Stoeckli used reclaimed material from the hotel to create a site specific installation for Supernaculum. Inspired by the Brooklyn Arts Hotel's sense for collection and whimsy, her work assembled the material into kinetic, hybrid sculptures that could be walked under and around. The sculptures were placed through the main thoroughfares of the hotel; in the corridors, the stairs and in through the garden.
Mietta Stoeckli draws upon a wide body of research examining symbology, movement and natural form, considering the ways that we may relate to these concerns in spatial installation. At the heart of her practice lies a reverence for the natural world as the original maker of shapes and the ultimate sculptor.
