Sam’s work invited the audience to become part of Brooklyn Art Hotel’s silhouette. Using the colour palette of the hotel’s walls and interactive projection technology, Sam created an immersive experience where the visuals responded to participants' movement. With two projectors, two swivel chairs, an Xbox Kinect and the sound of the DJs in the background, Sam’s production was conceptually considered, technically engaging and playful.
Sam Trolland’s work with projections creates an immersive experience in which the audience interacts with the piece and determines the performance. Originally an engineer working with sensors for industrial automation, Sam began to experiment with the creative applications of this technology. Specifically, his work explores how audience movement and interaction can be captured and represented within the piece. He is currently working on a collaborative art project with Science Gallery.
