Warwick Perrin’s ‘Splats’ debuted at Supernaculum. His 3D printing practice led him to discover these industrial plastic waste products from an injection moulding plant. He collected the most peculiar and fascinating examples and created an installation with these viscous but solidified plastic forms. “I looked at the failures, accidents and what is thought of as waste; the changing colours and the degree of heat in a plastic extruding machine can produce an aesthetic creation out of purged plastic waste. The results are formed by squeezing the last remaining colour out of the machine until the new colour is ready.”
Warwick works predominantly casting bronze sculptures. His practice is inspired by unique textures derived from organic forms. His ideas are brought to realisation with 3D printing and scanning technologies. Completing a Bachelor of Industrial Design (Honours) at RMIT, Warwick developed his creative process using digital technology and rapid prototyping. With knowledge developed through hands-on experience, Warwick continues to research and develop new horizons of bronze casting.
